Lucky

Vet's have just rung with Lucky's biopsy results, worst possible news! very aggressive osteosarcoma, we were expecting it but having it confirmed still suckers you! But our vet has come around to our thinking after Eric has been bombarding him with information and has decided to buy the special fume cabinet etc needed to give her chemo, she'll have 4 cycles 3 weeks apart starting in about 10 days. Apparently dogs don't suffer the same side effects and it can double the length of time they live. Cost is high so it's a good job she has a premium insurance but  Lucky being over 9 means we'll have to pay 20% excess but having come this far we may as well go the extra mile and at least we won't have to travel to a specialist for it. To have her leg amputated and follow up treatment is already at just under £3,000, even my maths can figure out 20% of that is a lot LOL.

Anyway she's certainly turned the corner, is eating better and going out for two little walks a day and can now get herself on the sofa and sleep without Eric at night. Off to vets tomorrow and hopefully get staples out which are really annoying her now!

Oh Lucky, paws crossed the chemo works it magic, and you get many pain-free years out of it.

I'm so sad to hear about Lucky. Paws crossed for successful chemo therapy. I'll be interested to hear your updates.

Sorry that it is the aggressive type. That's nice that your vet is buying the equipment to help her chemo treatment. I hope she does well with it and it really slows the osteo. Zephyr had four aggressive treatments (for encephalitis) and did well. I bet you know this, but you just want to watch her at the time her white blood cell count is lowest. It's great that she is already feeling so much better!

Oh no, so sorry to read this:( I hope the chemo works wonders and gives Lucky many happy years with you yet. It's good that the vet is buying the equipment, and thank goodness for insurance.

Sad, sad news - but your positive attitude and fighting spirit has to rub off on Lucky. We will cross everything that the treatment gives you quality time together for a long time to come.
