Round up

My son Marc rang last night and has asked me to post this

"22:00 and all 3 of us are in bed Fish n chip supper with a couple of drinks
As the founder of 'walking the beat ' along with Steve and Stuart we are totally humbled with the response to our 2nd years walk,  yesterday around 1400 I gained mobile reception and lost it an hour later ....I was very pleased to see we had £2000 and with gift aid taking it close to £2500
Imagine the surprise when with a

couple of hours remaining before finishing the walk my phone beeped with signal and we had not only reached our target but superseded it !!!

As I said last year " it's not about us, it's about raising the profile of this brilliant charity
Using both media & social media to spread the word. I heard during the week that a parent from my little ones school had read the letter we sent out after our assembly to the children has decided to rescue a greyhound...this is exactly what the walk is about....it maybe only be one hound but it's a hound that will be safe and secure.

All of you guys out there that have donated your hard earned money to this cause deserve a thank you from the 3 of us.

We will have a few weeks off before we get together to plan & devise a route from south - North Wales sometime late May / early June

I know there is £70 to be added tomorrow from my wives collection which will take the amount raise to over £3500 (including gift aid)"

To that I would like to add my thanks to everyone who followed and supported the walk and for the generous donations" another small step closer to Greyhound Gap reaching £100,000, which is the deposit they require to buy their own kennels!

It's been a long and at times worrying 11 days, I am mighty relieved that apart from blisters and a few sore bits all 3 have survived, they'll probably need a few days for the feet to recover LOL. Today they catch a train to Edinburgh and then from Edinburgh down to  London, take a tube across London then a friend will meet them and drive them the 70 miles home. They should reach Ipswich about 9.30pm!

We had friends arrive last night who are staying until Friday so I shall take a few days break then come back with all the other news re hounds etc.

Many thanks to you all Sue xx

So wonderful. You'll have to get a few more stories out of them once they're home and rested. Congratulations to all who worked hard for the cause.

Well the lads deserved to reach their target with the dreadful conditions they had to contend with.

They should be very proud of themselves.

Sue, You enjoy having your friends staying.
